The purpose of making this booklet, “The Fundamentals of Music” is to impart the basic knowledge of music to the learners. It intends to increase their understanding and appreciation of good music and train learners with musical language. Perhaps, this book has been prepared and designed for suitable learning in our context, primarily for students in KHTS.
In praise and worship music plays a vital role. Next to the Bible, the Hymn is the most important book used in church. However, we cannot sing in our way. Songs or hymns need to be sung according to the composer’s thoughts and notes. To do that, the fundamental of music is important. To learn that, there are a few essentials that need to be familiar. Those essentials are Tonic solfa, staff notation, musical terms, and conducting patterns. This small booklet will lead a learner to get hold of the ideas on those essentials.
