COMMUNITY LIVING PRECEPTS
Students’ Life and Community Living:
KHTS exists to help every student develop spiritually, intellectually and physically. Individual student needs and interests are given consideration by the faculty of the seminary. The overall well-being of the students’ community is managed under the care and supervision of the Principal and subordinated by the residential faculties.
Abusive Substance Free Zone
KHTS is a Christian institution and is a drug, Tobacco, and alcohol-free zone and the following policies are designed to maintain such an atmosphere:
- Distribution, dispensing, possession, or use of substances such as drugs/beetle nut/alcohol/tobacco is prohibited.
- Students in violation of this policy or use drug/alcohol/tobacco will be terminated from the seminary.
Community Activities
Community life of KHTS includes activities that will nurture students spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically. Students are expected to participate in all the activities planned and executed throughout the year. They include worship services, ministries, internships, short term ministry trips, chapels, vespers, social and cultural activities, games and sports, retreats, seminars and workshops, etc. Student life at KHTS includes not only study, worship, and fellowship, but also humble service. Services may vary from cleaning classrooms, wiping window panes and sills, collecting and disposing litter, hospitality services, etc.
English as the Medium of Communication
KHTS gives importance to usage of the English language as an effective tool for ministry. As such, all the students are to use English language not only in the classrooms, but also in daily conversations between peers and others. Speaking Non-English language in English Speaking zone will be dealt seriously.
The Seminary Authority Resolve
The seminary authority/faculty/staff members have the right and authority to nurture/counsel/reprimand/discipline students on issues that are of concern to individual students/class/group of students in the community. Students should maintain utmost respect of the faculty/staff members for asserting their authority on behalf of the seminary. Disrespect, violation, or retaliation by students, whether verbal, written, gestures, or physical in any way in the community or in public forums/social media/gossip will be dealt with in the most serious manner leading to disciplinary actions by suspending students from the seminary for an academic year or expulsion from the seminary based on the quantum and severity of the issue.
The goal of the precepts outlined in this handbook is redemptive and corrective in nature but not rehabilitative. Therefore, if anyone is found violating the rules and regulations stated in this precepts, stern action will be taken against him/her.
