Our Story
By the wake of 2015, Rev. Dr. Wado has the vision to respond to the need of students who graduated with a bachelor from KKBBSC and other schools under KKBC to receive a Master's level education. His dream coincides with Rev. Dr. Wati's dream for higher education for the border people such as Karen, Karenni, Lahu, Thai, Mon, etc. As this dream germinates, Peacefully and Tee Toh plays a major role in the formation of the Seminary. Thus, in 2017 Master of Divinity program was started in the guest house of Huay Nam Khun Karen Baptist Chruch with Professor Tee Toh as the coordinator between the Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Churches (KKBC) - Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Bible School and College (KKBBSC) and the Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC)- Oriental Theological Seminary (OTS )and later on was appointed as the first Principal of KHTS.
Kawthoolei Hope Theological Seminary (KHTS) of Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Churches (KKBC), accredited by International Association for Theological Accreditation (IATA) presently offers;
Master of Divinity aiming to provide excellent, accessible, affordable Theological Education at the Master’s level to equip pastors, and church leaders of the Karen Baptist Churches and the other neighboring people group to plant new churches and nurture the existing churches in Thailand, Myanmar, in the refugee camps along the Thai-Myanmar border, and around the world.
Master of Arts in Ministry (distance learning) for leaders, pastors, ministers who finished their bachelor degrees and feel the need to pursue their higher theological education for a global context.
Master of Arts (M.A) in Socio-Political Transformation, intents at being academically practical in building the Karen people towards a future with fitting political forms from a geopolitical paradigm. The aim of the program is to analyze and respond correctly socio-cultural and political transformation of the Karen people, approach the critical international issues in general and Karen political transformation in particular.

Leadership
Rev. Dr. WADO President Dr. Wado upon the completion of his study at Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Bible School and College (KKBBSC), furthers his theological study and received his M.Div. and Th.M. from Oriental Theological Seminary, Nagaland. Wado returned to KKBBSC and taught there for several years and on November 22, 2015 he earned his Th.D. from Asia Baptist Graduate Theological Seminary, to which ABPF Digest 2016 issue penned his achievement as “created history by becoming the first man from the Refugee camp to become Doctor”. Dr. Wado served in different capacities as the Youth Secretary of Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Churches (2005-2016), President of Global Karen Baptist Youth Fellowship (2012-2017), Vice-Principal of KKBBSC, the first president of Kawthoolei Baptist Hope Theological Seminary. Wado continues his teaching as the professor of Systematic Theology and Philosophy at KKBBSC and KHTS. Some of his works are Mind the Gap, The Marks of the Baptist: The Spirit of Freedom, Born Again to a Living Hope, Trailblazer a passionate preacher, and a voice of the Karen’s on many platforms around the globe. |
Mr. TEE TOH Principal Professor Tee Toh was one of the first batch students of the Bachelor of Theological Studies from Kawthoolei Karen Baptist Bible School and College (KKBBSC), Mae La Refugee Camp. Upon the completion of his bachelor, he continues his study at Oriental Theological Seminary in Nagaland and earned his M.Div. and Th.M. He also holds a Master of Transformational Development (M.T.T.) from Eastern College Australia. Tee Toh served in different capacity among the Karen people in the past, he was an active faculty of KKBBSC for more than a decade, and now he serves as the first Principal of Kawthoolei Hope Theological Seminary. |
Mr. WAPANGRENBA IMCHEN Academic Dean Wapangrenba Imchen belongs to Ao community from Nagaland. Did his Bachelor of Divinity from Clark Theological College, following which served as an Associate Pastor Youth in Chungtia Baptist Church under Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) for six years. He completed his Master of Theology in Systematic Theology from Oriental Theological Seminary and earned his TESOL from North East Christian University(NECU). In the year 2019, he joined KHTS as a teaching faculty, and in 2020 he was appointed as its first Academic Dean. His area of interest includes Systematic Theology, Mission, interreligious studies, and New Testament studies. Some of his write up is in Academia |
